Broken Social Scene

Last night I saw one of my favourite bands, Broken Social Scene, play at The Corner Hotel.
They were absolutely brilliant. If you are not already familiar with them, stop what you're doing and download their discography (or atleast their latest album, Forgiveness Rock Record) now.
Their performance of Lover's Spit was amazing.

The Corner Hotel (Richmond) is also a really great venue, a nice size (not so big that it's impersonal and not so small that you're crammed like sardines) and the organisers seem to know the right amount of people to let in so there are never too many resulting in you having your face in some guys armpit whilst trying to see a band. Being right outside Richmond station and just meters from some other really nice bars on Swan Street makes the Corner's location perfect.

From Sea to Shining Sea.

Happy 4th of July everyone. An excuse to celebrate all things American, because red, white and blue really are great colours.

Catherine Malandrino's 'flag dress' is the epitome of stylish patriotism. She presented her stars and stripes inspired collection in New York in Feburary 2001 and it gained huge populairty post 9/11.
Last year she re-launched the 'flag dress' as her label celebrated 10 years.
